Beeslaar Pinotage 2021

R640.00

Notes by Christian Eedes of WineMag:
“The nose red and black cherry, floral perfume, chocolate and spice while the palate is not massively full-bodied, the wine carrying its alcohol of 14.5% well. It would be an exaggeration to describe this as “energetic”, but it certainly has purity and a real brightness about it while the tannins are fine, the finish long and dry. A very stylish, seamless offering. Matured for 19 months in French oak, of which just about 50% was new.

For the last 20 years winekare Abrie Beeslaar has spent his days as the Cellar Master for Kanonkop where he is in charge of some of the most iconic wines in South Africa (Paul Sauer, Black Label Pinotage).

The Beeslaar Pinotage is a very different, very personal expression of this very South African variety. We love the subtlety and nuanced nature of the Beeslaar. While exquisitely perfumed and red-fruited, it has the structure to develop for years in the cellar.

A must-have wine and an icon of South Africa.
