This is the third vintage of the Craven Cabernet, and their most accomplished yet.. Like the Chenin Blanc, it is from the Karibib Farm high up in the Polkadraai Hills west of Stellenbosch town, this allows the Cravens to pick earlier (12.5%) yet avoid excessive greenness that can be prevalent in many other Cabernet wines. For the first time, the Cravens destemmed a portion of the fruit. The wine still delivers all the Cabernet flavours you would expect, but it doesn’t come with the 15% alc.
Greg Sherwood MW: “ever since I tasted their maiden 2018 Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon from barrel in late 2018, I have been bewitched by the succulence, freshness, varietal purity and precision of this new addition to their range.”
“Whether it’s those stunning Polkadraai soils, their earlier picking regime or simply the skill of Jeanine and Mick in capturing the wonderful terroir of the area with their own fingerprint, this wine remains an incredibly exciting cuvee and one all self-admitted Cabernet Sauvignon obsessives should track down and try.”
