AGEING POTENTIAL : 10-20 years

Christian Eedes: Schaal’s 2020 Schoenenbourg shows lime, apple, peach and herbs as well as some flinty reduction on the nose while the palate is super-concentrated with a great line of acidity and wonderfully dry finish. It’s a wine of presence that provides waves of flavour. 94/100

Our first Alsace Grand Cru Riesling from Julien Schaal is here!

We are very lucky to be able to offer the ‘Gyspe’ cuvée (named after the gypsum-rich soils) from the famous Schoenenbourg Grand Cru.
Known since the early Middle Ages, the Schoenenbourg vineyard was famous as of the 16th century. The great Swiss mapmaker Merian, mentions it in 1663: “Schoenenbourg, where the most noble wine of this country is produced…”.

Voltaire owned several acres (!).

The Schoenenbourg Grand Crus are wines which age wonderfully, developing intense and rich aromas.
