The Luddite Shiraz 2016 comes from the second year of below average rain fall in Bot River. As in 2015, both the old block and young block were picked together. Half was fermented in a stainless steel tank and the other half in small, open bin fermenters and added about 10% stalks to give a little more freshness and complexity. Aged in 30% new oak down to 6th fill. Bold juicy fruit on the palate with a touch of sweet spice. The mid-pallet is broad, rich and dominated by dark fruit. This is all balanced with dry, firm tannins on the finish.
