This Syrah comes from organically farmed, dryland vineyards in the red soils of Malmesbury, with a dash of bushvine Carignan from the Paardeberg in the Swartland. The vines are unirrigated, encouraging deep root systems and naturally concentrated fruit with structure and balance.
After chilling overnight, the bunches were destemmed and fermented naturally with gentle extraction to preserve purity and texture. The wine spent two years maturing in older French oak barrels, followed by a further 18 months in bottle before release, allowing it to settle and gain harmony.
Notes of mulberry, violet, clove and a touch of cedarwood. On the palate, flavours of cassis, allspice and white pepper with a silky, velvety finish.
