Aromas of cassis, blackcurrant and dark plum are layered with graphite, cedar and subtle tobacco leaf. The palate is powerful yet refined, showcasing concentration from thick-skinned berries grown in koffieklip soils. Firm, well-structured tannins provide backbone, while balanced acidity ensures freshness and longevity. Extended maturation in French oak adds complexity and structure, culminating in a long, layered finish.
“From Bottelary, Stellenbosch. Matured for 19 months in barrel, 50% new. Black cherry, cassis, some leafiness, vanilla, pencil shaving and wood spice on the nose. The palate is full but never overblown, showing sappy fruit, bright acidity and fine, well-knit tannins. Balanced and structured, it has both immediate appeal and the capacity to evolve. 95/100” – Chrsitian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
