Geographica is a super-premium range of wine that illustrates where the grapes are sourced from.
Chris skipped the 2021 vintage of the Bonsai Chenin Blanc. The wine retains the signature Bonsai character you love. This will be the last vintage from this vineyard.
Expect vibrant aromas of ripe peach and apricot, a luxuriously viscous texture with a pleasant, grainy grip, and an overall exceptional drinking experience.
Oinos Kai Aletheia- In Vino Veritas- “From wine emerges truth”- Plato’s Symposium.
Opulent yet focused, this wine has a golden green hue, with aromas of papaya, hay and flint. And an incredibly silky textured mineral palate with poached pear and yellow apple.
These grapes are sourced from the Tierhoek vineyard in Piekeneerskloof, sitting at 760m above sea level.
The wine is aged in old French Oak barrels, terracotta eggs and doliums for 13 months before blended and bottled.
Planted in 1956. The vines are tiny with tiny berries. Chris Williams, post-Meerlust, wanted to keep a foot in Stellenbosch and thinks this wine is more expressive of old vines than of the variety itself. Very heady and intense. Really intense on the palate too! This makes a great, rich, lightly salty argument for old-vine quality. Pungent finish with a light chewiness. This wine has pear, peach, citrus, fynbos and straw on the nose.
From a mature Cabernet Franc vineyard planted on the western slopes of the Klapmuts mountain on decomposed granite and laterite.
The vines are trellised to allow maximum light and air penetration to ensure complete phenolic development of the grape tannins and the dark fruited Cabernet Franc flavours.
‘Named in honour of 19th century American naturalist and author Henry David Thoreau. Grapes from the western slopes of Klapmuts. 20% whole-bunch fermentation. Fermented and matured for 16 months, 80% in French oak and 20% in terracotta. The nose shows cranberry, cherry, cassis and rose plus a subtle and attractive grassy quality. The palate has good weight and texture – succulent fruit, bright acidity and fine tannins, the finish long and dry. At 13.75% aclohol, it’s pretty much pitch perfect – neither under- or overdone.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94/100
