We are incredibly excited to welcome Natasha and her Alinea project into our sphere. This is not simply an addition to our portfolio; it is an alignment with a philosophy that champions authenticity, dedication, and the power of starting anew.
Natasha’s journey is one of change. She spent several years working in fine dining kitchens as a chef, a career that fostered a deep appreciation for flavour, craft, and seasonal ingredients. However, a growing curiosity and passion for wine led her to embrace a profound shift in focus: moving from the heat and speed of the kitchen to the patient, elemental world of the vineyard. In 2021, she launched Alinea, a name that perfectly encapsulates this pivot: “The beginning of a new train of thought.
This concept is the bedrock of her winemaking. It’s a philosophy of constantly searching for unique sites, working with compelling, often lesser-seen, varieties, and allowing the true character of the fruit and the soil to define the wine through a rigorous, low-intervention approach.
While Natasha works with carefully selected vineyards across the Cape (like the Viura and Grenache sites featured in her current releases), the true emotional centre of Alinea lies in Noordhoek.
This project is special because it is entirely personal. During her final year of winemaking studies, and in the midst of a global shift, Natasha put shovel to soil and began planting her own two small vineyard blocks in the cool, windswept, coastal region of Noordhoek.
The Syrah Block: Just 750 vines, planted stok-by-paaltjie (head-trained on a pole), a traditional method that protects the vines against the ferocious Atlantic winds.
The White Field Blend: A mere 650 vines, also stok-by-paaltjie, featuring a thoughtful blend of six varieties; Grenache Blanc, Verdelho, Chenin Blanc, Colombar, Roussanne, and Semillon. A true statement of varietal curiosity and a nod to the Mediterranean focus of her brand.
These vineyards are tiny, meticulously farmed organically, and heavily influenced by their proximity to the sea. The sheer effort of planting and nurturing these blocks vine-by-vine, in an area where grape growing is challenging, speaks volumes about Natasha’s commitment.
The first, precious harvest from these Noordhoek blocks arrived in 2024. These wines are the ultimate expression of Natasha’s dedication—a patient, physical manifestation of her “new train of thought.”
We believe that great wines come from great stories and genuine passion. Natasha’s Alinea, especially her rooted, pioneering work in Noordhoek, embodies this perfectly. We look forward to sharing this thoughtful, authentic, and truly site-driven collection with you.
This Viura (Macabeo) originates from a unique, drought-resistant vineyard established in 2011 in the Simonsberg-Paarl region on decomposed granite soils, making it one of the few sites for this variety in South Africa.
The winemaking focused on expressing the site and variety: whole bunches were gently pressed before the juice settled overnight, then spontaneously fermented in 500L French oak barrels. The wine matured on its fine lees for ten months with bâtonnage, enhancing the characteristic texture that defines this variety.
“Grapes from a Simonsberg-Paarl vineyard. Spontaneously fermented and matured for 10 months in old 500-litre barrels. The nose shows subtle notes of mandarin, peach, earth and a touch of reduction. The palate is textured rather than overtly fruit – rich and full of flavour with moderate aciditiy.” – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za

Grenache Blanc, Verdelho, Chenin Blanc, Colombar, Roussanne and Semillon
The inaugural vintage of a unique Field Blend originating from Noordhoek, Cape Town, planted against the Dassenberg Koppie just kilometres from the sea. The blend consists of six interplanted varieties; Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Grenache Blanc, Colombar, Roussanne, and Semillon; grown on a small block of 650 vines established in 2020 on Table Mountain Sandstone with underlying clay pockets; it is farmed organically and sustainably using the stok-by-paaltjie staking method.
Winemaking involved: whole bunches were gently pressed, and the juice underwent spontaneous fermentation in a single, 300L French oak barrel. Only a single barrel was produced, bottled exclusively in magnums.
”Grapes from a tiny Noordhoek block (650 vines) planted on an empty horse paddock as project during the Covid-19 induced lockdown of 2020 – interplanted to Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Grenache, Colombar, Roussanne and Semillon. Spontaneously fermented and matured for 100 months in old 300-litre barrel. Elusive aromatics of pear, peach, yellow apple, naartjie, flowers, herbs and earth. The palate is dense and creamy with well-integrated acidity and savoury-salty finish. Difficult to describe but super-intricate, layered and long. 95/100 ” – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
The 2023 vintage of a Simonsberg-Paarl Grenache, from a vineyard established in 2018 on clay and iron-rich Tukulu soils. The growing conditions for this vintage featured a dry and warm winter, which naturally contributed to smaller berries and exceptional flavour concentration and intensity.
Harvest was in mid-February, and winemaking: whole bunches were crushed underfoot and underwent a 21-day period of skin contact, with wild yeast fermentation. Foot stomping was meticulously performed, twice daily during the initial and final stages of fermentation, and thrice daily at the peak. Following pressing, the wine was aged for nine months in 400L French oak casks before bottling.
This wine is from the high-altitude Citrusdal Mountain district, specifically the Piekenierskloof ward, where the vineyard was planted in 2012 on Table Mountain Sandstone soils at approximately 750m above sea level. This high altitude promotes slow ripening, leading to an elegant and refined wine, and the vintage was exceptional with low yields contributing to extremely high quality.
The winemaking process: whole bunches were crushed underfoot and underwent wild yeast fermentation with a prolonged 28 days of skin contact. Foot stomping was performed twice daily during the initial and final stages of fermentation and thrice daily during its peak. The wine was gently pressed and subsequently aged for nine months in 400L French oak casks before bottling.
”From a Piekenierskloof planted in 2012. 100% whole-bunch fermented. Matured for nine months in an old 400-litre barrel. Strawberry, red currant, orange, rose, fynbos and garden herbs on the nose. Lean, fresh and tannic, a compelling bittersweet quality to the finish. 94/100” – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
The inaugural vintage of Syrah from a small, organically and sustainably farmed block in Noordhoek, Cape Town. The vineyard is located against the sloping Dassenberg Koppie, and lies just a few kilometres from the sea, where its 750 vines are planted on Table Mountain Sandstone with increasing clay content in the lower section, and are staked using the stok-by-paaltjie method.

“Grapes from a 750-vine block adjacent to the white field blend in Noordhoek. A haunting nose begins with smoky reduction before unfolding to dark berries, olive, violets, fynbos, and pepper. The palate is taut and focused, driven by bright acidity and an umami-laden finish. Utterly arresting. 96/100” – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
