The nose is expressive and layered, aromas of black pepper, crushed violets, dark plum and subtle fynbos, underpinned by granite-derived minerality. The palate is concentrated yet poised, with savoury spice and dark berry fruit framed by finely textured tannins. Balanced oak maturation adds notes of cedar and clove without overpowering the fruit. Structured and elegant, with a long, dry finish and excellent ageing potential.
“From Wellington. Matured for 18 months in barrel, 25% new. The nose is expressive with notes of red and black pepper, cured meat and white pepper. The palate is rich and hearty, broad in shape with a smooth texture and plenty of flavour. A slight warmth to the finish reminds one of the wine’s origins, but many will like this wine’s generosity. 92/100” – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
