Joostenberg Estate sits just outside Paarl, where the decomposed granite and clay-rich soils of the region meet a farming philosophy rooted firmly in regeneration and long-term soil health. While the estate has a long history, the modern direction under the Myburgh family has focused increasingly on organic farming, biodiversity, and wines that feel honest to both site and season.
Song of the Soil 2025 marks the estate’s first dedicated rosé release, built from Mourvèdre and Syrah grown entirely on the property. Rather than chasing the ultra-pale, neutral style of rosé, this wine leans into texture, savoury detail, and quiet complexity — something more grounded and food-friendly.
The vineyards themselves range between six and twenty-six years old, planted on east- and west-facing slopes roughly 27 kilometres from the Atlantic.
In the cellar, the approach stays deliberately gentle. Hand-picked fruit is whole-bunch pressed, naturally fermented, and matured in stainless steel alongside concrete egg for eight months on lees. The result is a rosé that feels composed rather than flashy.
Joostenberg ‘Song of the Soil’ Rosé 2025
This is rosé for people who actually like wine, dry, textured, mineral and restrained, but still incredibly drinkable. The kind of bottle that disappears quickly at the table without trying too hard to impress.
