The 2022 Foundry Syrah comes from Chris Williams’ own vineyard in the Voor Paardeberg, planted in 2000 on low-vigour granite and clay soils with laterite stone. Now reaching real maturity, the vines produced a vivid and intensely perfumed Syrah in 2022, balancing savoury complexity with purity of fruit.
Partially whole-bunch fermented and matured for 16 months in seasoned French oak and terracotta vessels, the wine shows notes of violets, wild herbs, fynbos and spice alongside generous ripe fruit and silky, structured tannins. Focused, linear and deeply expressive, with a long, savoury finish.
