From a single vineyard on Stellenbosch’s cooler south-westerly slopes near False Bay, Chris Williams’ 2024 Viognier is a refined, maritime-influenced expression of the variety. Fermented and matured in seasoned French oak for 10 months on lees, it balances notes of peach, jasmine, citrus and sea breeze with a fresh linear acidity and a subtle creamy texture. Elegant, perfumed and quietly powerful.
Chris’ style in the cellar aims to create a wine that is both a true expression of the fruit and a showcase of the terrior. Using both modern and traditional winemaking methods helps him acheive balance between the fruit and the terrior.
