An intimate comparative tasting with Chris Williams.
Chris Williams is, unapologetically, a Rhône obsessive. A full-blown rhônophile. The kind of person who can lose an entire evening discussing granite soils in Saint-Joseph, the perfume of old-vine Viognier, or why Syrah from the right site should taste like cracked pepper and violets before fruit.
This tasting is a glimpse into that obsession.
Date: 25 June 2026
Location: Ex Animo HQ, 145 Sir Lowry Road, Level 2, Woodstock, Cape Town.
Time: 18:00- 20:00 (We’ll have a few wines available for sale by the glass and some snack options too, stick around and chat some more afterwards)
Join us for an intimate evening of Rhône varieties through the lens of The Foundry, poured alongside benchmark wines from the Rhône Valley itself. Across five flights, we’ll taste Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Noir and Syrah, following the thread between inspiration and interpretation, individuality and influence, France and the Cape.
Not a showdown. Not a masterclass. A conversation and a great glass to match.
Featuring wines from Yves Cuilleron, Domaine Jamet, Domaine des Lises and Domaine Santa Duc alongside a remarkable lineup from The Foundry, plus a special look at The Foundry Syrah 2007, a great chance to see just how beautifully these wines age.
