The Sierra de Gredos, a Spanish wine region just west of Madrid, is renowned for its high-altitude vineyards and very old vines, many of which are over 100 years old. The granitic soil of the region combines with these factors to produce a style of Garnacha (Grenache) often described as “Burgundian” for its elegance and finesse. Tasty stuff.
