Thorne & Daughters ‘Rocking Horse’ Cape White 2022

R305.00

Thorne & Daughters’ cornerstone wine is everything you want to see in a Western Cape white blend: grace and finesse, acidity and balance. John uses simple winemaking techniques, letting the fruit express itself in this exceptional vintage.

Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za review: “Expressive aromatics including citrus, apple, peach, straw and fynbos, the merest hint of reduction and some nutty, earthy base notes. Excellent fruit expression and crisp acidity before a finish that is long and dry. Super-detailed as always. 96/100.”

John has drawn on the great history of wine growing here in the Cape, putting together old vineyard parcels with new grape cultivars, and making wines with old-school simplicity and a modern ‘edge’. His approach to wine making is simple, honest and gentle, and he is looking to make wines that tell a story, not wines that shout and bang a drum. The “Wanderer’s Heart” Cape Red Blend was added to the range from the 2016 vintage.
