Van Loggerenberg ‘Kameraderie’ Chenin Blanc 2022 – 1500ml MAGNUM

R1,160.00

Christian Eedes, Winemag:
“Complex aromatics of peach, nectarine and naartjie plus thatch, spice and a slight leesy note. The palate has dense fruit and moderate acidity before a bone-dry finish. Marginally more breadth than its counterpart above but not short of structure and well honed. 95/100.”

100% Chenin Blanc – W.O. Paardeberg, Swartland
Soil: Decomposed granite

In the vineyards:
Dryland bush vine grapes planted in 1966 and 1980 on decomposed granite vineyards on the western side of the Paardeberg. These old vines have adapted to survive in these tough growing conditions and produce unbelievable grapes. These grapes were picked when optimally ripe and produced a wine that’s very true to the terroir.

In the cellar:
Grapes were de-stemmed, pressed and left overnight to settle in stainless steel tanks. The vineyard planted in 1966 was fermented in Italian concrete tank. The vineyard planted in 1980 was fermented in 500 litre French oak barrels. Both parcels were left on their lees for 10 months without batonnage. No commercial yeast or enzymes were used during the winemaking process.

Label story:
For us everything in life is about camaraderie, about savouring moments with those closest to you. However, camaraderie is not only between friends but also between the farmer, workers in the vineyards and vines and about the final product being shared between friends over a good meal. The stamps show a bit of our heritage with the ship symbolising the Dutch settlers to the Cape and the Springbok being our South African National animal.
