Joostenberg has a long history of growing Chenin Blanc and a big focus is put into it. This is one of two Chenin bottlings made on the estate and is a blend of several vineyards.

TASTING NOTES
Fruit forward and fresh. Aromas and flavours of pears, apples and green melons. Good concentration on the palate which will become more textural with time. Crisp acidity adds to the long finish.

Alc 12.2%, RS 2.7g/L, TA, 6g/L, pH 3.28

VINEYARD
Joostenberg is situated in the south western part of the Paarl region. The climate is Mediterranean (cold, wet winters and dry summers) and the soils are a combination of decomposed granite and clay shale. Distance to the ocean is approximately 30km.The vines are farmed organically and every effort is made to follow practices that are respectful of the environment. Age of vines vary from 4 to 40 years.

VINIFICATION
100% hand-picked. Combination of de-stemming and whole-bunch pressing. Natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks (85%), clay amphora (7%) and seasoned barrels (8%). A small portion of Roussanee (7%) was included in the blend.
Bottled after 5 months on the gross lees.

Tyrrel & Anette Myburgh Tyrrel and Anette are the 5th generation of Myburghs on the Joostenberg farm in Paarl. They strongly believe in the fundamental importance of origin. This manifests itself in the vineyards by farming organically and often without irrigation. The winemaking philosophy avoids obtrusion as much as they deem is possible without compromising quality.
