Proefkonyn means Guinea Pig, as in testing. This is a blend of 64% Gamay Noir ( Stellenbosch ) 36% Cinsaut ( Swartland ). Some stems were used in ferment to add some greener complexities. The wine was aged in old French oak barrels for 10 Months.
“The nose offers red and black berries, fynbos, rose, and a touch of earth, while the palate remains remarkably youthful – juicy fruit, bright acidity, and lightly grippy tannins. Pure and poised, it carries a modest 12.5% alcohol yet delivers impressive concentration.” Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
