A cheeky Chenin Blanc only bottled in magnums. Tiny amounts made and absolutely delicious.
Planted in 1998, dryland trellised vine, farmed organically. The vineyard is a special one as it is the only vineyard we work with that is completely unique in its location and soil make up. It is about 20 km from the ocean and on deep sand that sits on top of a chalk layer. The vineyard benefits from the warm sunny days but it is cooled by nearby ocean breezes on most days. The vineyard produces a very unique salty flavour unlike the other vineyards we work with.
Hand harvested and whole bunch pressed. Fermented/Aged in 1 x 500L old French barrel. No yeast (or other) inoculation or additives apart from a small amount of SO2 shortly before bottling.
