Roagna’s distinctive Piedmont white pairs Chardonnay with a small amount of Nebbiolo vinified as a white wine. Deliberate oxidation of the must and slow maturation in neutral oak favour texture and longevity over simple fruitiness. The 2022 is taut and savoury, with lemon, orchard fruit, almond and a stony, saline finish. 92 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

Roagna has worked in Barbaresco and Barolo for five generations, farming a small collection of historic vineyards that includes Pajè and Asili in Barbaresco and Pira in Castiglione Falletto. Luca Roagna now leads the estate, continuing the family’s patient, traditional approach: old massal selections, indigenous yeasts, long submerged-cap macerations and slow maturation in large, neutral oak. The wines are neither fined nor filtered and are released only when the family believes they are ready.
