Situated on the south coast, near Vermaaklikheid, east of Cape Agulhus. Unusually for South Africa, there is a combination of cool climate and limestone soils.
Limestone soils, cool mean ripening temperatures and only 10km from the ocean – creates a beautiful, mineral Chardonnay. The grapes were harvested in the 3rd week of Feb, partly whole bunch pressed and partly crushed, fermented naturally in partly new, 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels. A point of difference in this wine is that it didn’t go through malolactic fermentation – ensuring the beautiful natural acidity present in the wine. Bottled after 11 months in oak.
