Spain’s white wines extend far beyond a handful of familiar grapes and regions. This tasting brings 13 wines from across the country, exploring Palomino and Moscatel in AndalucÃa, Godello in Bierzo and Galicia, Garnatxa Blanca and Gris in Montsant, Xarel·lo in Penedès, Albariño in RÃas Baixas and Albillo in Vinos de Madrid.

The line-up includes several useful comparisons: two very different expressions of Albariño from RÃas Baixas, two Albillo wines from Bernabeleva, and two Penedès wines from L’Enclòs de Peralba. There are also less familiar blends involving varieties such as MalvasÃa, Dona Branca and Arinto.
The wines range from bright and coastal to textured, savoury and structured, offering a broad look at the varieties, landscapes and winemaking approaches shaping modern Spanish white wine.
