Barbera is the grape here; Alba is part of the appellation. Trediberri’s published approach draws on grapes from Roero and its vineyards around Torriglione, near the winery, with fermentation and ageing in tanks rather than oak.
The producer describes its Barbera as fruit-led and full-bodied, with bright acidity. Keeping it unoaked gives that combination room to speak, without adding the flavour of oak.
For the 2024 vintage, Falstaff’s Othmar Kiem and Simon Staffler awarded 92 points, noting redcurrant and raspberry aromas, supple tannins and freshness. They also recommend serving it cool. This is where we would start if you are getting to know the range and want the fruit-forward option.
